When you set up Home Assistant on Android, you sometimes get a notification showing up in the background saying something like “Updating sensors…”. It might be useful to retrieve my phone battery or location to automate some routines, but I don’t need it and I find it intrusive.
After Googling around unsuccessfully, I stumbled on the solution in the settings:
- Open the mobile Home Assistant application
- Open the left menu and pick “App configuration”. In newer versions, go to Settings > Companion App
- Scroll down to “Manage Sensors”
- Filter the sensors to only show enabled sensors, and disable them all one by one
- Additionally, you can turn off the notification channel (the sensor worker might be running periodically even if there are no sensors) and remove your device from the list of entities
Tested on Android 11 with Home Assistant Android 2021.10.0.
